FACIAL SURGERY

facial surgeryWhen you see Dr. Smotrich in consultation to restore a youthful look, the entire range of surgical and nonsurgical options will be discussed. Our goal is to have you regain a natural, younger look, not the appearance of someone who has had facial cosmetic surgery. You may be a candidate for something as simple as BOTOX® or fillers such as Juvederm®.  Your consultation may involve these newest techniques, or surgical procedures that address the entire face or a specific facial feature that you find unattractive.

Facial Rejuvenation

While the word “facelift” makes for a convenient website click, the term does not do justice to the array of procedures available for facial rejuvenation. Many patients are simply bothered by aging signs in the neck, so a necklift is appropriate. This can often be done through a small incision under the chin.

A mini-facelift may be recommended if your concerns involve the jowls and jawline. If your aging involves the entire face, a facelift may be the best option, and this is often done in combination with a browlift and eyelid surgery. Whatever is done, Dr. Smotrich’s goal is to make you look better, healthier and more youthful, not to give you an operated-on appearance. For more information, view “Frequently Asked Questions“.

Eyelid surgery

The eyes are our most prominent facial feature, and youthful-appearing eyelids can give you an energized and well-rested look. Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty corrects excess skin and drooping of the upper eyelids and puffy bags under the eyes. If there is minimal skin excess of the lower eyelids, the surgery can often be done from within the eyelids with no visible external scar. The deep crease which often exists between the lower eyelid and cheek can be corrected with the latest fat grafting techniques. Dr. Smotrich also performs procedures which can change the shape of the lower eyelid to give a more youthful appearance. Like all facial rejuvenation procedures, Dr. Smotrich’s goal is to restore youthful eyelid shape and contour, not to give an operated-on look. Browlift

The brow is often an overlooked area when people do not like what they see in the mirror. A sagging brow may make people look tired or sad, and creases between the eyebrows may suggest an angry appearance. A browlift can correct a sagging brow and smooth out the forehead lines. Like so many other procedures in plastic surgery, there are multiple surgical options, all of which will be discussed in your consultation with Dr. Smotrich. The traditional approach which uses an incision across the scalp has its role in more advanced cases of brow sagging, but newer techniques use small incisions hidden in the hair at the temples.  A browlift procedure is often done in conjunction with eyelid surgery. Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty or nose reshaping can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, or change the angle between your nose and upper lip. Many patients see Dr. Smotrich for what they feel is a nasal tip that is too full or round. Other patients have issues with the bony structure of the upper nose, which may involve a hump or too broad a nose. A technically challenging procedure, a rhinoplasty can be performed from entirely within the nose without any visible scars. This may be an option when a small hump needs correction. For work on a misshapen nasal tip, Dr. Smotrich may use an open rhinoplasty technique, which gives superior exposure of the nasal cartilages. All of the available options will be discussed in your consultation with Dr. Smotrich. For more information, view “Frequently Asked Questions“.
